Activities of AML-NS
 
Our activities have included three public
lectures by media literacy specialists from Ontario, co-
sponsoring a full-credit course in media literacy at
the Mount Saint Vincent University summer school,
a curriculum workshop for teaching media literacy,
parenting in the TV age workshops, meeting with
the Minister of Education, a newsletter and
the establishment of the Gordon Parsons Bursary
Fund.
Other public education initiatives
- Facilitating workshops with children, 
educators and parents
 - Hosting conferences and public lectures  
on media literacy for educators, media 
professionals, parents and students
 - Lobbying government concerning 
  information technology and copyright issues
 - Providing commentary and analysis of mass media issues
 - Publishing The Mediator, the AML-NS newsletter
 - Co-Sponsoring media literacy events at Atlantic Film Festival 
ScreenScene and 
summer courses at Mount Saint Vincent University
 - Recommending media literacy resources
 - Maintaining membership in the Canadian Association of Media Education 
Organizations (C.A.M.E.O.), part of an international 
ÊÊnetwork of media education organizations. Which includes: Australia, 
India, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
